Privacy policy
What we collect, what we don't, and why. In short: your PNR is never stored in raw form, and your history stays on your device.
Last updated 9 September 2026
This policy describes how the Aspect service is designed to handle information when you use it. It reflects how the product actually works; it isn't legal advice.
The short version
- We never store your raw PNR — only a one-way, salted hash.
- Your recent checks are saved on your device, not our servers.
- There are no accounts, and we don't sell your data.
- To fetch a live status, your PNR is sent to a railway data source.
What we collect
When you check a PNR or use the calculator, we process the details you enter to return a result. We may keep aggregate, non-identifying records of predictions and their eventual outcomes so we can measure and report accuracy over time. We may also collect standard technical information (such as basic request logs) needed to run the service securely and reliably.
How we handle your PNR
Your PNR is treated as sensitive. We do not persist the raw ten-digit number. Where we need to recognise that the same PNR has been checked before — for caching and for measuring accuracy — we store only a salted, one-way hash of it. A hash can't be reversed back into your PNR, so the original number isn't retained anywhere in our records.
What stays on your device
The list of checks you see under my checks is stored locally in your browser, on your device — not on our servers. It's there for your convenience, and clearing your browser's site data removes it. Because it's local, it isn't synced between your devices.
Third-party sources
To retrieve a live PNR or train status, the relevant details are sent to an external railway data provider that returns the current status. That request is necessary for the feature to work. We aren't affiliated with those providers or with IRCTC and Indian Railways, and their handling of data is governed by their own terms.
Retention
Salted hashes and aggregate outcome records may be retained so that accuracy can be measured across time — these don't contain your raw PNR or identify you. Operational logs are kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service.
Your choices
You can use the core tools without creating an account. You can clear your on-device check history at any time through your browser's settings. If you have a question about data handling, the contact page explains how to reach us.
